Virgil could have at least said thank you.
It’s not the same
Ironically that cop looks kind of like Caroll O'Connor. And they had a remake of this movie as a t.v series in the 80's with Caroll O'Connor as the lead cop.
I like Packy. He is willing to wait because he knows Tibbs is in a precarious situation. His friend, the leftie told him he's a good man. Tibbs told him to leave out of a mutual care.
He was sexually attracted to Delores purdy
Sam wood was fired
That movie was probably good
A shame that the Zulu 'maidens' spoiled the effect of their dancing by wearing 1960's underpants beneath their beaded loinclothes ........
Rod Steiger - amazing actor.
Poitier, Steiger, Oates, all in one movie, all now sadly passed, but not forgotten.
you can feel the heat and the tension in this movie so atmospheric it feels like your there.
You had no right to cut the scene just before the last part. You had no right
"It's even better when you help." Somehow movies don't seem quite as good as they used to.
Treat a police officer with respect
3:20 Forget Lawremce of Arabia. Cinematography at its best!
"Let us ALL be Alert We don't want ANYONE Hurt"
It is quite a film and very good film for 1967 I thought
I like how after an entire movie of people reacting to Virgil with microaggressions, her entire body language upon meeting him is "Oh damn, look at *this* tall drink of water!"
‘Why don’t you come and get it’
Interesting to note: Those two actors are the SAME AGE!
The Chief throws a serious left hook to the gut !!!
By now Virgil has Sheriff Gillespie's total respect. When he comes into the office, without knocking, it because by his aid the sheriff now considers him his equal, and his office almost as his own. It is a complete transformation from the first scene where they both appear in the office: Tibbs under arrest on suspicion of murder and Gillespie as the interrogator. When Dolores' brother looks down on Virgil and suggests he won't speak about the affair in front of Detective Tibbs, Gillespie looks up with an expression that speaks a great deal: "Is that right, son? So, YOU'RE going to tell me what you will and will not say in my own office, in front of a man whom I have come to respect and who is here to help you?" And then he actually tells him he'll stand there and shut up. This is why I like Sheriff Gillespie's character so much. He is not a racist against blacks so much as a man who grew up in the society, and who was willing to judge men individually. It's like he was waiting for someone to come to his town to shake it up.
"War is Hell ..you cannot refine it !! General T Sherman ...US Civil War
A superb film!! Zulu Nation made a hefty sum of cash while filming !!!
The sexually repressed Victorian girl was seriously disturbed with the feelings that arose within her.
What a great film!
One Of The Greatest Movie Ever You Can See The Chemistry They Had Together ❤❤
Observe how “ Ralph “ holds and manipulates the knife at the juke box - exactly how knives are handled and concealed by those with bad intent - a small but significant ( imho ) piece of foreshadowing by directors ..
The slap heard around the world!
Yes they knew, snowing ash at Noon all summer long for 4 years in a row.......etc
Today's woefully aweful Hollyweird compared to a classic riveting scene like this is like comparing a stinky fart to a Hurricane. It's not even close. It's not even in the same universe. It's not even in the same galaxy...
Chuck berry sings about in the Heat of the day down in mobile alabama!
One of my favourite scenes in the film. Delores Purdy's actress could have made a killing in ASMR.
I'm I the only one who heard the fly
Dont beleive everything hollywood tells you There was white Zulus i have seen the footage and they were full on zulu with the dancing chanting and yes ladies the bwc
The sexual tension between these two was explosive!
Ffs all that gum sucking was disgusting🤮🤮🤮
One of the cars the good old southern boys drive is I think a 1960 Plymouth, it's as ugly as the southern boy's attitudes. Disgusting racism.
“There was a time…” this is what the trumpt maggots want!
nice breasts
Them tits look so damn good!!
Sydney potıer a great actor at diffıcult tımes rıp thıs film done a lot for understand we all humans 😊
Ma non e' possibile vedere questo film per intero...?
The best actors don't act they just act naturally. Imagine how many people are in that room when filming and a good actor have to ignore everyone and everything imagine the amount of control
This is a movie you have to watch by yourself without interruptions
2:36 tipps looking like a real professional police officer hands in his pockets , i wonder if the director tells how to stand on each minute or are the actors who make choices on some occasions
Every actor played it perfectly. it's just amazing. That's when movies were little physical action and lots of brains in dialog, every gesture from each actor just perfect.
Mmm, over 13.5 million people were involved in the workings of the Concentration camp system. Most of them were Germans although there were Austrians, Slovaks, Czechs, Russians, Poles, Ukrainians and others from the Baltic states. There were thousands of women involved in the day to day running of the camps. They were virtually ignored by all the Allies at the end of the war although a few sadistic female guards were executed. To think that nobody knew anything is just ridiculous. However, at the same time it is also true that there was a thriving resistance movement throughout Germany during Hitler's time in power. Many Germans were executed and sent to concentration camps as a result of defying the Nazis. The acts they committed were sabotauging their system, undermining war production, sheltering Jews, spying for the Allies or minor crimes like listening to 'degenerate music' or listening to foreign radio broadcasts. In short, 'we did not know' cannot possibly be true.
Rod Steiger never seems to have understood that the modern use of the camera demands an understated acting style. His acting is better suited to films of the 40s and 50s, with their more theatrical staging.
Sylvia Miles always stole the show in her parts. She never was a mega star but she probably wasn't capable of carrying a film.
She was a lead in ‘Heat’ and did a great job!
